Oman fostering international cooperation with Iran’s participation: Minister

  • Iran had said that it had been engaged in indirect negotiations with the United States through Oman, with nuclear issues, US sanctions and detainees on the agenda.

Tehran, Iran — Oman has said it has been making efforts to facilitate regional and international cooperation by with the active participation of Iran.

In a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart on Tuesday, Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi referred to the recent talks between Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and the Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, according to Tasnim news agency.

His Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian appreciated Oman’s efforts to pursue the development process and the all-out expansion of ties between the two neighbors.

The ministers then reviewed the latest bilateral ties and consulted on the follow-ups regarding the implementation of agreements between the two countries, Tasnim reported, quoting Iran’s Foreign Ministry.

In June, Amir-Abdollahian visited Oman as part of his three-day tour to four Gulf Arab neighbors, including Kuwait, UAE and Qatar. He had met Albusaidi who said they discussed “continued consultations and cooperation” on issues of bilateral concern.

“There is great consensus in the visions of the two states on a series of issues… that will contribute to stability, security and peace,” he said, quoted by the official Oman News Agency.

Amir-Abdollahian, for his part, called the meeting “constructive” and praised the effective cooperation between the two sides, ONA said.

Iran had said that it had been engaged in indirect negotiations with the United States through Oman, with nuclear issues, US sanctions and detainees on the agenda.
