Cairo, Israel – The areas near Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City and Al-Quds Hospital in the western part of the Gaza Strip have been shelled by Israel’s air force, Palestine’s WAFA news agency reported, according to Russia’s TASS news agency.

WAFA said that the strikes aimed to hinder the operations of the healthcare system.

Earlier in a blast on al-Ahli Arab Hospital, around 500 Palestinian were reported to have lost their lives. While Hamas blamed the blast on an Israeli airstrike, Israeli has attributed it to a failed rocket launch.

Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7 when militants from the Gaza-based Palestinian group Hamas staged a surprise incursion into Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip.

Hamas described its attack as a response to the aggressive actions of Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City.

In response, Israel has declared a state of war, announced a total blockade of the Gaza Strip, home to 2.3 million Palestinians; and began pounding the enclave and certain parts of Lebanon and Syria with airstrikes. Clashes are underway in the West Bank as well.
