The Executive Committee of Qatar’s Ministry of Defense for the World Cup signed on Wednesday a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Italian Ministry of Defense as part of cooperation for securing the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, between the Qatari Ministry of Defense and the ministries of defense of the countries participating in the event. 

The memorandum was signed on the Qatari side by Major General (Pilot) Mohammed Abdullatif Al Mannai, who is the Chairman of the executive committee of the Ministry of Defense for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and on the Italian side by head of the Italian delegation Major General Luigi Del Pini.

The MoU aims to define the controls for the participation of liaison officers from the Italian Ministry of Defense and to define the roles and responsibilities assigned to them, in addition to the technical arrangement with regard to the participation of the Italian Armed Forces in Qatars air defense and the deployment of capabilities to combat unmanned air systems with a human element during the FIFA Arab Cup.
