Soudah Development Company, a real estate development company owned by PIF, Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, has announced it will join the UN Mountain Partnership to realize its environmental sustainability goals.
Soudah Development is involved in driving the development of Soudah and parts of Rijal Alma’a Governorate in the Asir region of Saudi Arabia to create a luxury mountain destination.
The motive behind joining the UN Mountain Partnership, it said, will help in its endeavor to develop Soudah and Rijal Alma’a through the exchange of opinions, resources with other members and building partnerships.
Founded in 2002, the UN Mountain Partnership comprises more than 400 global members including governments, and civil community groups committed to improving the lives of local communities and protecting mountain environments.
Soudah Development is the first real estate development company in Saudi Arabia and Gulf Cooperation Council to join the Mountain Partnership.
Soudah Development Company CEO Husammeddin Al-Madani said that “through this partnership, we seek to commit to preserving the natural, cultural and heritage components at the project’s location.”
For her part, Rosalaura Romeo of the Mountain Partnership Secretariat said: “We are happy to cooperate with Soudah and this will help us expand in the Middle East”.
