  • AE’s Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE), represented by its Biodiversity Department, shared insights on ecotourism prospects with a German delegation.
  • The ministry explored collaboration to control marine pollution and promote sustainable aquatic environment.

UAE and Germany have reviewed cooperation on biosphere reserves, ecotourism, and environmental conservation.

A delegation from the German Development Cooperation Agency (GIZ) and German conservation NGO Succow Foundation discussed it while meeting members of the UAE’s Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE).

MOCCAE, represented by its Biodiversity Department, shared insights on ecotourism prospects in UNESCO Man and Biosphere (MAB) marine sites.

It explored collaboration to control marine pollution and promote a sustainable aquatic environment.

The visit featured a tour of Marawah Marine Biosphere Reserve, the region’s first and largest UNESCO-designated marine reserve with abundant wildlife.

The biosphere reserve is home to more than 60 percent of the UAE’s population of dugongs and boasts vast stretches of mangroves.
