UAE signs cooperation pact with Ethiopia on extradition, legal assistance

Abu Dhabi, UAE – The UAE signed agreements on extradition and mutual legal assistance in criminal matters with Ethiopia.

The agreements were inked by Abdullah bin Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, Minister of Justice, and Ethiopia’s State Minister for Justice, Ato Alemante Agidew.

Abdullah Al Nuaimi stated that the UAE is keen to strengthen cooperation in the legal and judicial fields with Ethiopia.

It includes cooperation to develop bilateral relations, exchanging experiences and implementing agreements to serve the concept of justice, he added.

According to Ethiopia’s Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration, trade between Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has exceeded $2.5 billion in the last five years.

Ethiopian exports to the UAE totaled more than $650 million between 2016 and 2020, while Ethiopian imports from the UAE were more than $1.8 billion.
