A top Iranian security official has warned against continued “meddling” by London and Washington in the internal affairs of the regional countries, said local reports on Thursday, August 12.
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Shamkhani reportedly issued this warning in a meeting with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein.
He was quoted in the reports as saying: “The continued dangerous and malicious presence of US troops and their overt and covert interference in the internal affairs of countries in the region will further increase tensions in the region.”
He apparently claimed that countries in the region are able to ensure their security without any external interference.
He also said the behavior the United States, Britain, and Israel have recently shown in the region had “laid the ground for insecurity and misunderstanding among the Persian Gulf countries.”
In a pertinent development on Tuesday, Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi in a meeting with the Iraqi foreign minister in Tehran renewed his country’s support for the Iraqi government and nation during his presidency.
“Iran has always been concerned about the problems of Iraq and is looking forward to see them resolved,” Raisi said during the meeting with the Iraqi foreign minister in the Iranian capital.
The Iranian minister underlined the role of dialog among regional states, and said holding dialogs would lead to security and stability.
