The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center (MBRSC) announced that it will host the 17th International Conference on Space Operations (SpaceOps 2023) for the first time in Gulf region, local media reports said.

The conference will be held at the World Trade Centre in Dubai, UAE from March 6-10, 2023.

Themed “Invest in Space to Serve Earth and Beyond”, the conference will provide an opportunity to explore all aspects of space mission operations, including robotics, capacity building of human resources, earth-orbiting, and deep-space aspects of space operations.

Scientists, practitioners, engineers and leaders in the space industry will participate in the event to discuss the latest research, state-of-the-art technologies and innovations in the space sector, the reports said.

The event is taking place following the highly successful International Astronautical Congress, the world’s premier space event, held for the first time in the Gulf region in Dubai in 2021.

Hosting SpaceOps 2023 is part of the UAE’s strategic plan to develop its space program.

Initiatives like UAE Satellite Program, UAE Astronaut Program, Emirates Mars Mission, Emirates Lunar Mission are also part of the same plan.

Further, UAE’s Mars 2117 Strategy seeks to be the first to establish a human colony on the Red Planet through the Mars Science City.

Salem Humaid Al Marri, Director-General, MBRSC, said, “We are committed to nurture our space exploration program and further the cause of the space sector in the region and around the world.”
