Sharjah, UAE – Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) announced an increase in the percentage of Emiratisation in engineering positions by 148.97 percent from 2021 over the last two years, with the number of Emirati engineers at the authority rising from 98 to 244.
The SEWA revealed its plan to raise the Emiratisation percentage to 73 percent of the total engineering jobs by the end of 2023. It plans to employ 170 jobseekers from the emirate, including 130 national engineers, and 40 for administrative positions.
Majid Issa Huraimel Al Shamsi, Director of the General Department of Institutional Support Services at SEWA, confirmed that the authority began implementing a plan to raise the Emiratisation rate in engineering jobs since 2021.
Earlier, ENOC Group announced 50 percent Emiratisation during Careers UAE 2022. The company reiterated its commitment to support Emiratisation by offering more than 80 job opportunities across downstream and corporate divisions within the Group.
Recently, the UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) held a meeting with a number of recruitment agencies in the UAE to discuss the latest developments and ways to benefit from the Nafis platform, helping companies with 50 employees or more achieve the Emiratisation targets of 2 percent for skilled jobs before the end of 2022.
