Public schools in UAE set to welcome back students on August 29

    • UAE public schools will reopen for physical learning on August 29 for the academic year 2021-22

    • The announcement was made by Emirates Schools Establishment, in line with the UAE’s efforts to return to normal after the Covid-19 pandemic

Public schools in the United Arab Emirates will reopen for physical learning on August 29 for the academic year 2021-22, Emirates Schools Establishment has announced, according to local reports on Monday, June 21.

This is reportedly in line with the country’s efforts towards returning to everyday life after the Covid-19 pandemic and resultant lockdowns.

The move is expected, in one way or another, to impact the country’s education sector, which is projected to expand at a compounded annual growth rate of 5% between 2021 and 2025.

Precautionary and preventive measures will be highly implemented for this, considering the safety of the students, teachers and administrators, said the reports.

ESE stated a special protocol for returning to school will be fully developed in coordination with the Ministry of Education, the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority and other authorities in the country.

It added that it will work closely with school principals, given their vital role in creating a safe environment and in training teachers and administrators.

ESE stated that each school will be handled separately based on its data and without affecting the country’s public education system. Distance-learning will remain in place if parents wish to opt for it, said the reports.

The establishment urged parents to cooperate with the country’s concerned authorities to implement the decision to allow students to get the needed support from their teachers and resume activities with classmates in a safe educational environment.

ESE emphasized that student safety is a top priority that requires full cooperation from parents, teachers, supervisors, administrators and students themselves, contributing to a safe return to schools August 29.

According to the academic calendar, the students’ return will coincide with teachers and administrators returning full time at schools.
