Thanks to the fasting month of Ramadan, hotels in the UAE are reporting an uptick in business not seen in quite some time, as domestic tourists queue up to partake of a rich smorgasbord laid out for iftar and suhoor meals.

After the conclusion of  Dubai Expo, the hotel occupancy in the UAE reached its maximum capacity, resulting in a record-breaking first two weeks.

Perhaps the most appealing aspect of the UAE hotels to guests is the wide variety of Iftar and Suhoor meal options and discounts on accommodation rates for families and groups.

Domestic tourism had a significant impact in terms of hotel reservations and activities in Dubai and other country regions.

Prices and Eid expectations

While the prices of hotel rooms decreased after the end of Expo2020, with rates starting at around US$50 per night, TRENDS‘ tour of several e-booking sites in the UAE revealed that offers and discounts were commonly for families and groups during the holy month.

This shows how UAE hotels put the effort to attract more visitors on all 2022 occasions after lifting COVID-19 restrictions.

A handful of hotels achieved occupancy levels of more than 70 percent due to several factors; one is the return of events, conferences, and exhibits, such as the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai in May.

Moreover, expectations show that hotel bookings will boost for Eid Al-Fitr. Accordingly, Gulf markets are predicted to see a considerable spike in travel bookings from April 28 to May 5, 2022, which coincides with the resumption of large exhibitions in several GCC capitals, among congested reservations.

Dubai’s Ramadan activities and destinations
