Saudi Arabia pursuing sustainable tourism: Tourism chief

Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt – Saudi Minister of Tourism Ahmed bin Aqeel Al-Khateeb said on Saturday the kingdom’s effort to pursue sustainable tourism is moving from the planning stage to implementation.
The country’s goal, he said,  is to reach zero emissions by 2030.
He was speaking at a session titled Sustainable Tourism Protecting Treasures of Nature held on the sidelines of COP27.
The session dealt with the importance of harnessing the power of tourism from a development and operational perspective.
Saudi Arabia is presenting 66 initiatives as part of its environmental plan at the UN global climate change summit taking place in the Egyptian resort town of Sharm El-Sheikh, officials said.
