35.6% rise in Saudi women’s economic participation makes TOP CEO Conference’s May predictions true

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — The Kingdom has witnessed a 35.6 percent increase in the women’s economic participation, Saudi Minister of Human Resource and Social Development Eng. Ahmed Bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi recently highlighted.

Eng. Al-Rajhi noted that the increase of the women’s economic participation has come as a result from the national efforts that have been provided by the private sector to employ Saudis.

The confirmation of an increased participation of women in workplace comes months after the TOP CEO Conference held in in May 2022, where panelists had highlighted the economic justifications of hiring more females at workplaces as they make up around half of the population in all societies.

Speaking at the event, which held in Dubai, AlBilad Media and Publishing Chairman and Quartz Communications Managing Partner Khaled Almaeena had said: “Women are now considered a big part of the economy since they are hard workers and have proved their skills.”

Almaeena, during a session on “The Workplace of Tomorrow”, also highlighted how the private and public sectors were essential in encouraging women to work and took steps like having nurseries in the offices.

Global Brand Council at Visa Christine Harb, meanwhile, spoke about the change in workplaces made by metaverse and technology.

“This will open new roles, and women always benefit in this context due to the increasing number of women interested in technology,” she said.
