Production at Karbala refinery will start in mid-March: Iraq

Baghdad, Iraq – The Iraqi Oil Minister Hayan Abdul-Ghani announced on Sunday that the commercial production of Karbala refinery will commence in mid-March 2023, and reach the capacity of 140,000 barrels per day by July end.

The refinery production from high-octane gasoline will be a grade of 95, with a capacity ranging from 8 to 9 million litres per day, he noted, and will be in accordance with the highest European norms and specifications (Euro 5).

He added that the production can be increased to 12 million liters, which will cover a large proportion of up to 75 percent of domestic consumption.
