SHARJAH, UAE — The lives of millions of families, women, children, and the elderly in many communities worldwide depend on humanitarian missions, which can only be possible and successful with the benevolence and support of humanitarian champions, said Mariam Al Hammadi, the Director of The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF).
She was highlighting the organization’s efforts in enhancing both emergency response and developmental aid for underprivileged communities through the “Enlighten their Future” campaign. Launched as a Zakat Appeal initiative, the campaign aims to unite the community’s support during the Holy Month of Ramadan by collecting charitable donations.
“Contributions this Ramadan will improve educational opportunities, give families who have lost everything after the recent earthquake a chance to rebuild their lives, and take quality healthcare to remote locations,” she said.
“Human life in any circumstance is precious. It is God’s gift and therefore deserves to be nurtured and lived to the fullest. With our Zakat Appeal this year, we are fostering hope for a better tomorrow, not only for refugees and vulnerable people but for all of us,” said the TBHF Director.
For over a decade, TBHF has been a global humanitarian organization, assisting millions of refugees, internally displaced individuals, and others in need. The funds raised through this campaign will be utilized to promote long-term development and humanitarian projects in crucial sectors such as education and specialized healthcare. This will be done in under-resourced communities across various countries while also providing ongoing aid to earthquake and natural disaster victims in Syria and Türkiye. Additionally, the campaign will support scientific and health centers and help institutions regain their ability to serve the people in both countries.
TBHF’s “Enlighten their Future” campaign embodies the spirit of the Holy Month and focuses on two core aspects of development: providing immediate, lifesaving assistance to crisis victims and launching projects to empower those impacted by climate change, natural disasters, war, conflict, and disease. The campaign will enable these individuals to build their futures and foster sustainable development in underprivileged communities.
TBHF is calling on members of the UAE community, philanthropic individuals across the globe, private sector businesses, government entities, civil society organizations, and charities to respond to the Zakat Appeal with generous donations.
Al Hammadi stressed the significant impact that support from donor communities in the UAE and beyond can have, as the populations served by TBHF are now more than ever in desperate need of emergency response, shelter, security, education, livelihoods, and other long-term developmental aid.
In the education sector, scholarships will be awarded to out-of-school children, new schools will be built, kindergartens will be supported, and so on.
