Riyadh, Saudi Arabia— The GCC countries are “actively engaging” with international and regional organizations in order to establish strategic partnerships that serve their interests.
This was stated by the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi.
He made the remarks during a meeting held between the GCC Secretary-General and the MIKTA Group at the General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The MIKTA Group consists of Turkey, Indonesia, Mexico, Korea, and Australia. Each country was represented by its ambassadors accredited to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The meeting primarily focused on discussing cooperation and dialogue relations between the Cooperation Council and the MIKTA Group.
A week ago, Albudaiwi emphasized the importance of Gulf-US strategic relations that support joint cooperation and coordination across all fields.
He highlighted in a statement the outcome of the joint meeting which was held last June between the GCC foreign ministers and the USA.
The GCC chief made the statement as he held a phone call today with Daniel Benaim, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Arabian Peninsula Affairs in the Near East Bureau at the U.S. Department of State.
The two sides underscored the importance of steadily-growing strategic partnership between the GCC countries and the United States in maintaining peace, security, stability and economic prosperity in the Middle East.
Albudaiwi also stressed the GCC countries’ commitment to contributing the global security and stability through strategic partnerships with countries, regional and international organizations.
