Iran’s exports of agriculture products climb up 10% to US$1.62bn

Some 7.749 million tons of agricultural products (crops) worth $4.346 billion were imported into Iran during the period.

Tehran, Iran— Iran’s exports of agricultural products to the outside world shot up 10% in the first 5 months of this year, the Iranian customs administration reported on Monday,

According to a report released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) in the first 5 months of this year of 1402 in the Iranian calendar(March 21-August 21, 2023), a total of 2,169 million tons of agricultural products worth #1.62 billion were exported to other countries.

During that period, the exports of agricultural products decreased by 7.7% in weight and increased by 10.14% in value.

Also in that period of five months, 7.749 million tons of agricultural products (crops) worth $4.346 billion were imported into Iran, which shows a decrease of 6.17% in weight and 19.34% in value.

Iraq, the United Arab Emirates and the Russian Federation were the major destinations for Iran’s exported crops.

In the 5 months of this year, $1.531 worth of agricultural products were imported from the United Arab Emirates, $549 million from the Russian Federation and 502 million from India.

In August, Iran revealed that Some 56 million tons of non-oil goods, valued at US$19.3 billion, were exported in the first five months.

Also, 14.4 million tons of non-oil goods, valued at US$24.2 billion, were imported into the country from March 21, 2023 to July 22, 2023, registering a 2.17 and 7.49 percent hike in weight and value respectively compared to last year’s corresponding period, IRICA added.

The export volume of non-oil goods, with kerosene, fuel oil and luggage trade excluded, showed an 8.55 percent decrease in value and 26 percent increase in weight, the report added.

In this period, China, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Turkey and India were Iran’s main export markets respectively.

China imported $5.6 billion worth of products from Iran in the first five months of the current Persian calendar year.
