MANAMA, BAHRAIN – Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi has said that the hosting of the 19th Manama Dialogue here reinforces the country’s leading role in analyzing key political, defense and security issues in the Middle East and beyond.
The conference brings together global senior officials and experts to exchange ideas and theories about common challenges.
These will help in understanding and analyzing issues, promoting security, peace and prosperity and supporting sustainable development in the region, and globally.
Albudaiwi expressed appreciation for the support lent to the event by King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
He appreciated the support extended by the Bahraini government, for facilitating holding the Manama Dialogue, also known as the Regional Security Summit, and its outcomes since its inception, in 2004.
The 19th Manama Dialogue has been organized by the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), and is held on November 17-19 2023.
According to Albudaiwi, the Manama Dialogue has focused on strengthening cooperation to address challenges and foster a common understanding toward upholding regional and international security and stability.
This is particularly important given the current global developments, especially the grave violations inflicted upon the Gaza Strip by the Israeli occupation forces, he said.
Albudaiwi also emphasized that the Manama Dialogue helps shed light on and discusses political and security issues that present a challenge to the security of the Middle East.
The event was attended by ministers of foreign affairs, defense and national security, heads of security services, experts, politicians and prominent thinkers from various countries.
