Israel marks the 15th anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks by designating Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), a Pakistan based militant group, as a terrorist organization, Indian media reported. The move, independent of any formal request from India, aims to combat terrorism globally.
The Israeli Embassy confirmed the completion of all necessary procedures to officially label LeT as a terror outfit. This decision, undertaken jointly by the ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs, emphasizes the need for a united global front against terrorism.
“While Israel only lists terror organizations who are actively operating against it from within or around its borders, or in a similar manner to India – those globally recognized by UNSC or the US state department; the Israeli ministries of Defense and Foreign affairs, have jointly worked in the last few months towards an expediated and extraordinary listing of the Lashkar -e- Taiba organization on this date, to highlight the importance of a Unified Global Front in combating terrorism,” the Israeli statement reads.
LeT’s involvement in the tragic Mumbai attacks, where six Jewish victims, including two Israeli nationals, lost their lives at the Chabad House, prompted Israel to term the organization as “deadly and reprehensible.”
The embassy highlighted LeT’s responsibility for the murder of hundreds of Indians, emphasizing the lingering impact of their actions from November 26, 2008, on peace-seeking nations and societies worldwide.
