Doha – Over the past years, Qatar has emerged as a distinguished sports tourism destination, thanks to its advanced infrastructure, sports facilities, and medical amenities, according to Qatar Tourism Chairman Saad Bin Ali Al Kharji.
“In addition to hosting a variety of sports events, especially the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Qatar has shown the world its hospitality and exceptional organization. This is complemented by luxurious tourist facilities and the picturesque landscapes that characterize the destination,” he added.
Following the immensely successful FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar, which was voted the best of this century, the country is preparing to welcome the world again with the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, taking place from January 12 to February 10, 2024.
Al Kharji noted, “Visitors will have the chance to enjoy exciting times and explore numerous tourist attractions in Qatar. Qatar Tourism will offer a wide array of exciting events and festivals to entertain both residents and visitors.
The kickoff of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 coincides with various festivals and events, including Shop Qatar, the Doha Jewelry and Watches Exhibition (DJWE), the Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF), the Qatar Kite Festival, and the International Horticultural Doha Expo 2023, which continues until late March. Additionally, a series of musical and entertainment events will combine to create an unforgettable and exceptional experience.”
The AFC Asian Cup 2023 demonstrates Qatar’s ongoing sporting legacy and its capability to host large-scale events, welcoming visitors from around the globe with world-class tourism infrastructure. This includes the award-winning Hamad International Airport, national airline Qatar Airways, and a metro and tram network that carried over 18.2 million passengers during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
