Emiratis can’t travel to 14 countries on UAE’s no-go list

    • Many individuals such as diplomatic missions exempted

    • Cases of Delta variant have been found in many countries

Seeking to keep out the new dangerous variants of the coronavirus, the UAE government would not allow citizens to travel to 14 countries on its no-go list.

The no-go countries – India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Namibia, Zambia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Sierra Leone, Liberia, South Africa and Nigeria – were announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority.

The start of the peak travel season, which coincides with the exceptional circumstances the world is going through currently due to the COVID-19 pandemic, underlines the need for UAE citizens to comply with all precautionary measures and preventive protocols in place in their countries of destination, the government bodies said in a statement released by state news agency WAM.

UAE diplomatic missions in the said countries, emergency treatment cases, official delegations and previously authorized business and technical delegates are however exempted from the new regulation, the statement added.
