Sharjah Public Library director elected to IFLA’s MENA committee

    • Bushulaibi will represent regional interests at the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions

    • She will work with the other Regional Division Committee members to define advocacy priorities

Eman Bushulaibi, Director of the Sharjah Public Library (SPL), has been elected to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Regional Division Committee of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA).

Bushulaibi will work directly with the other Regional Division Committee members to define advocacy priorities and to build capacity across the region.

As director of SPL, Bushulaibi is mandated to oversee the design and implementation of its strategies. Her primary objective is to position it not only as a knowledge destination but also as a unique hub where diverse communities can meet, learn and grow.

Bushulaibi has succeeded in steering SPL to great heights over the past two years. She is credited with having facilitated 50 percent organizational growth of the library in just three months.

In March this year, the SPL launched ‘Everyone’s Library’ and ‘Reader to Reader’ to encourage children to read. Under ‘Everyone’s Library’, SPL offered free annual basic membership for individuals registering in March, either online or in person.

‘Reader to Reader’ initiative involves an exchange of books among SPL employees.
