UK pipeline specialist Stats boosts Qatar operations

    • Stats has recruited more project engineers and technicians

    • The company provides pressurized pipeline isolation, hot tapping and plugging services

Qatar, the world’s third largest reserves of natural gas, has seen UK-based pipeline specialist Stats Group strengthen its operations with new hires, said local reports on Monday, June 7.

Stats has recruited more project engineers and technicians to boost its Qatar operations, which began in 2011, said the reports.

Stats provides pressurized pipeline isolation, hot tapping and plugging services to global oil, gas and petrochemical companies.

Its Qatar operations are located in Doha. This helps it offer a rapid response to its clients, said the reports.

It also supplies pipeline isolation and intervention equipment to Qatari operators as part of its Emergency Pipeline Repair Systems (EPRS).

The local reports quoted Stats Group CEO Leigh Howarth as saying: “Our strong performance in 2020 was largely due to continued investment in international infrastructure which has established responsive regionalized management teams and localized workforces close to key markets, including Qatar.”

Stats Qatar General Manager Vikas Shangari was quoted by the local reports as saying: “We are pleased to have the opportunity to be building our in-country capability in response to a growing demand for our isolation and hot tapping services. Building on the solid foundation we have put in place over the years, our broadening of the team’s capability will ensure we have the human resource, technical skills, and ability to deploy quickly, to satisfy this demand.”
