UAE-based shipbuilding and ship repair facility Grandweld Shipyards has delivered the second 42-meter crew boat to Abu Dhabi-based Allianz Middle East Ship Management, said local reports on Saturday.
This was the second of the three boats, which Grandweld brands as the Grand Superior, that Allianz had ordered, said the reports.
Named Allianz Surfer 2, the crew boat is expected to join the charter contract for offshore projects of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company or Adnoc.
This is apparently part of the UAE’s strategy to increase its oil and gas production capacity.
The Grand Superior 42m crew boat series is said to have been in active developed and improvement for over 15 years.
It is reportedly capable of transferring 100 pax and up to 70T of deck cargo, according to the shipbuilder.
The crew boats are said to be powered by three 1,450HP engines to achieve over 27 knots, and also have two 75HP bow thrusters and Grandweld’s hydrodynamically-foiled rudders for maneuverability.
The wheelhouse has 360-degree visibility and also forward and aft consoles, Grandweld said in its statement.
