DUBAI: Various requirements for starting a business in Abu Dhabi have been cut by 71 percent, Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) said in a statement on Monday.
A special taskforce launched in April 2021, led by ADDED as part of its ‘Investor Journey Program’, coordinated with more than 20 government entities and the private sector to achieve a reduction of 71% in requirements across all activities, it said.
Discussions with stakeholders helped the Abu Dhabi government to identify and remove duplicate requirements and modify existing requirements to facilitate the process of starting a business without compromising public safety and security, the statement said.
The pared-down requirements reduce time and cost involved in starting a new business.
The changes in requirements are already reflected in respective systems and will be effective from August 1.
Sameh Abdulla Al Qubaisi, Executive Director of the Executive Affairs Office of ADDED, said that the move came after several recent announcements regarding the ease of doing business in the emirate.
In early July, ADDED established the Abu Dhabi Residents Office (ADRO) to attract talents and provide services to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a preferred destination for living and working.
Last week, ADDED announced that all license issuance and renewal fees for Abu Dhabi Government entities have been reduced to AED1,000, and over 93 percent of economic activities can now receive a commercial license within six minutes.
