Authorities in Bahrain have invited bids for construction work pertaining to the Cargo Express Village at the Bahrain International Airport, said local reports on Sunday, August 8.

The request for proposal has come from the Bahrain Airport Company, with the deadline for submitting the bids being September 12, said the reports.

The key facilities being planned include a warehouses zone spread over a 12,500-sq-m area, two power substations, a landside access road from Al Rayya highway, and a car-parking zone and security guard house at the entrance of the Cargo Express Village.

This, the reports said, is in addition to water tanks, a pumping station, and an emergency gate.

Zone A is expected to have a 5,000-sq-m warehouse facility exclusively for logistics group FedEx in addition to other storage facilities spread over 7,500 sq m.

BAC said the scope of work as part of the project would also include an airside security wall with associated works, an emergency gate, airside roads and a yard.

According to the Tender Board, bids will be open to only Grade A and Grade AA building contractors registered with the Bahrain’s Ministry of Works.
