Nissan Middle East has introduced a suite of safety and connectivity features to its offerings in the region, said local reports on Sunday, August 8.
The suite is called Nissan Intelligent Mobility or NIM, and is aimed at preventing automotive fatalities, said the reports.
The newest addition to the NIM suite, the ProPILOT, was premiered in the region on the 2021 Nissan Altima.
Combining Nissan’s Intelligent Cruise Control system with Steering Assist technologies, ProPILOT can automatically increase or decrease the vehicle’s speed to maintain a set distance from other vehicles, said the reports.
The NIM suite also has Lane Intervention, a feature that reportedly utilizes a forward-facing camera to keep the vehicle in the center of the lane.
NIM’s offerings are said to be in line with findings from global automotive consumer studies where respondents rank safety features as the most vital factor when considering their next vehicle purchase.
NIM reportedly operates in three stages — Monitoring, Recovering, and Protecting — by shielding occupants before, during, and after a potential impact.
The Intelligent Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection feature is said to give drivers a 360-degree bird’s eye view and alerts them of moving objects to avoid or mitigate collisions.
Features such as Automatic Emergency Braking utilize a sensor located at the front of the vehicle to identify pedestrians and other vehicles.
Should the driver not be able respond in time, the system automatically applies the brakes, said the reports.
The suite is also said to have smartphone integration in the form of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Nissan Middle East Marketing Director Abdulilah Wazni was quoted by the local reports as saying: “The complete capabilities of NIM and how it reforms driving experience are embodied in the Ariya, which will be Nissan’s showcase of the future of mobility at Expo 2020 Dubai.”
