Lincoln Motor Company’s H1 sales in the Middle East rose 54 percent in 2021, local reports have said.
Lincoln is the luxury-vehicle division of American carmaker Ford, which acquired the brand in 1922.
Sales of the Lincoln Corsair small SUV increased 98 percent compared to the previous year, said the local reports.
Meanwhile, sales of the mid-size Lincoln Aviator SUV grew 108 percent, the reports added.
The first seven months of 2021 have reportedly seen Lincoln’s new car sales in the region go up 41 percent compared with 2020 and 38 percent versus the same period in 2019.
The UAE continues to be the Middle East’s largest market for Lincoln, accounting for 54 percent of its sales during July 2021, with Kuwait contributing 34 percent.
Lincoln’s recent sales growth resulted from the brand’s accurate interpretation of the appetite for SUVs in key markets such as the Middle East, said the reports.
Lincoln Middle East Managing Director Sami Malkawi said this growth was closely related to the luxury carmaker’s recent decision to discontinue its sedan models and concentrate entirely on high-end SUVs.
He said: “All around the world, consumers of luxury goods are driving change and, for Lincoln, that meant some incredibly tough decisions resulting in the discontinuation of iconic models, like the Continental, that resonated with certain motorists.”
