Oman on Thursday, August 26, allowed some hotels to open their event halls for business, but set strict conditions for them to follow, local reports have said.
The country’s Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has reportedly announced that four and five-star hotels may open meeting and celebration halls from Thursday.
The halls can function with a maximum of 35 percent capacity, said the ministry.
It added that hotels would have to allow entry to only those who are fully immunized with vaccines approved by the country.
“The move is based on the advice of the Supreme Committee to deal with Covid-19,” said the ministry.
Oman has already relaxed some of its internal Covid-19 restrictions from August 21.
The relaxation came in the form of the reopening of public buildings, malls, and restaurants, as well as the resumption of public events.
Shops in the country were closed and commercial activities shuttered between 8 pm and 4 am since May.
Oman has seen more than 302,000 cases of Covid-19 infections since the beginning of the pandemic last year.
The novel coronavirus has caused 4,049 deaths in the country so far.
