Bahrain has claimed it has reduced the waiting period of loaded trucks coming into the country by nearly 15 times.
The country’s Customs President, Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa, announced on Saturday, September 4, that it had reduced the average waiting period for such loaded trucks to just 52 minutes in the first half of August.
This, he said, was in comparison to the 757 minutes — more than 12 and a half hours — in the previous years.
This performance of the Customs Affairs was reportedly highlighted in the performance indicators of the King Fahad Causeway.
Sheikh Ahmed highlighted various steps the Customs Affairs took in recent years, to achieve reduce the average waiting periods of trucks on the causeway.
This, he said, included signing agreements with supervisory bodies.
Those steps resulted in a gradual drop from 2014, reaching the target waiting period in 2021, said local reports.
The Sheikh said the achievement was part of joint efforts, and hailed the role of importers, traders, and customs-clearance agents in it.
