Aramco to partner with Aveva for sustainability

Saudi Aramco and technology behemoth IBM enter into a strategic partnership to create a hub for innovation in Saudi capital.
  • The partnership will help Aveva establish its largest digital hub, with R&D capability, in the Middle East
  • It will also enrich Saudi Arabia’s knowledge economy by incorporating research from prominent universities across the kingdom

The Saudi Arabian Oil Company, or Saudi Aramco, is joining hands with British multinational IT-consulting firm Aveva to bolster sustainability, said local reports on Wednesday, September 8.

Aramco, with this partnership, will focus on driving sustainability in the region through digital transformation, said the local reports.

It is expected to help Aveva establish its largest digital hub, with R&D capability, in the Middle East.

The hub will be headquartered in Saudi Arabia, said the local reports.

It is expected to contribute to enriching Saudi Arabia’s knowledge economy by, among other things, incorporating research from prominent universities across the kingdom.

This partnership is expected to entail a significant investment for Aveva, which is also looking to create up to 300 new high-skill jobs in Saudi Arabia by 2030.

It is also expected to help Aramco deploy digital technologies including Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Management.

Aveva and Aramco will reportedly aim to work together to use these technologies to bolster Saudi Arabia’s move towards industrial sustainability.

One of the key focus areas of the partnership would be the use of these technologies to support the development and implementation of blue hydrogen and decarbonization facilities in Saudi Arabia.

Another area in which the companies intend to work together is the implementation of predictive analytics technology across Aramco’s operating facilities.
