Expo 2020 Dubai and Microsoft have collaborated to give visitors to the event the ability to explore the site of the mega event virtually, according to an official statement.

The virtual world has been created especially for this occasion, it said.

It will apparently allow visitors to visit the various pavilions and experience the themes of the event through the video game Minecraft.

In addition, a dedicated Expo 2020 Dubai Minecraft: Education Edition will feature several lesson plans for teachers to use in their classrooms to further deep dive into Expo’s themes: Sustainability, Mobility, and Opportunity

This is expected to let students discover the themes through building an immersive play.

A more immersive virtual world and dedicated Education Edition has been available from October 12 to create additional builds inside the customized Minecraft world.

Rehan Asad, Chief Program Officer at Expo 2020, was quoted by the statement as saying: “Through Minecraft and other digital platforms, virtual visitors will be able to curate their Expo experiences, allowing them to connect with Expo’s themes through learning, play and an appreciation for a new generation of digital connectedness.”

Minecraft: Education Edition is a free version of Minecraft for students and teachers who have an Office 365 account.
