The Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority will soon launch a first-of-its-kind program aimed at supporting technology entrepreneurs and early-stage startups, according to an official statement from the Dubai government.
The launch is expected to take place as DSOA — a wholly-owned government free zone — participates in the tech-focused startup event GITEX Future Stars 2021, which will run from October 17 to 20 at the Dubai World Trade Center.
DSOA’s participation is expected to happen through its wholly-owned tech coworking space Dubai Technology Entrepreneur Campus.
Speaking on the new program that is scheduled to be announced, Dtec Vice-President Hans Christensen said: “Through Dtec, Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority aims to connect investors with innovators and pioneers who possess ground-breaking ideas and concepts, to spread the culture of investing in technology start-ups and supporting young entrepreneurs.”
He added: “In line with that objective, we will announce a one-of-a-kind program at GITEX 2021 that will support early-stage technology entrepreneurs and start-ups – providing a global platform to reach the largest group of ambitious and promising thinkers.”
At the event, DSOA will also offer eight Dtec-based startups the opportunity to showcase their technologies and solutions, as well as share their success stories, according to the statement.
Concurrently, the DSO-based Rochester Institute of Technology – Dubai will showcase a prototype model developed by one of its students to support training people with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and help them concentrate better.
This is said to be in line with the Dubai Strategy for Free University Zones, which focuses on the sixth principle of the 50-Year Charter to establish integrated economic and creative zones in public and private universities.
