Saudi Arabia has announced that it will ease the precautionary measures for Covid-19 from Sunday, October 17.

The decision is said to have been taken based on the reports submitted by health authorities, the progress in immunization, and the decrease in Covid-19 cases.

As a result, masks will no longer be compulsory in open places, but are a requisite in closed places.

Rules have also been eased for those who have completed their vaccination.

For example, the two holy mosques in Mecca and Medina may now be at full capacity, but with riders that include all workers and visitors wear masks at all times.

The Eatmarna or Tawakkalna apps will continue to be used to obtain permission for Umrah and prayer or visiting Al Rawdah to limit the number of devotees.

Social distancing is no longer mandatory, with full capacity allowed in gatherings, public places, means of transportation, restaurants, and cinemas.

However, only fully-immunized individuals may enter these sites and participate in these activities, with the exception of the ones marked by the Tawakkalna app. However, they will have to adhere to relevant health measures at all times.

The Public Health Authority or Weqaya is expected to prescribe protective measures for all the above-mentioned activities.
