So, it was nothing new when Facebook decided to change its name to Meta, and invite people to the Metaverse.

We have already seen a company Research In Motion renamed itself in 2013 to Blackberry, after its most successful mobile phone.

Similarly, French petroleum company Total changed its name to TotalEnergies to show the diversification of its energy portfolio.

Then there was Isis Pharmaceuticals, the Nasdaq-listed company that traded under the ticker ISIS, which in 2015 changed its name to Ionis Pharmaceuticals and the ticker to IONS for obvious reasons.
