Iraq and Germany call for stopping networks of human trafficking

Iraq and Germany have said there was a need for moving quickly to stop the networks of human trafficking.
Iraqi media reports said that foreign minister Fuad Hussain met with the German minister of state for Foreign Affairs, Miguel Burger, on the sidelines of the Regional Security Summit, The IISS Manama Dialogue 17, and stressed support for the voluntary return of migrants stranded on the border strip between Belarus and Poland.
Both sides have also discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, and the prospects for advancing them to meet the aspirations of the two friendly peoples, according to a statement by the Iraqi foregin ministry.
The reports, quoting Hussain, said, the Iraqi government is ready to provide support and assistance to Iraqi immigrants and repatriate them to Iraq by voluntary return flights.
“We are also keen to strengthen means of bilateral cooperation with Berlin in various fields,” Hussain said.
Burger said the “parliamentary elections that took place last month were monitored internationally, in a way that enhances the democratic path in Iraq, and positively reflects on the unity of the Iraqi components”.
