The United Arab Emirates and Colombia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the air transport relations between the two countries, official sources have said.
The deal is said to have been struck on the sidelines of the ICAO Air Services Negotiation Event (ICAN2021), with the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) representing the country.
GCAA Director-General Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi and Colombia’s Civil Aviation of Authority Director-General Jair Orlando Fajardo Fajardo signed the MoU in the presence of UAE ambassador to Colombia, Salem Rashid Al Owais.
This signing is said to be within the framework of the efforts made by the GCAA to encourage the expansion of air transport services between the United Arab Emirates and Colombia, in addition to strengthening the economic partnership and tourism.
This MoU is expected to enhance the air connectivity between the two countries.
It will reportedly allow the national carriers of both countries to initiate the operation of scheduled passenger and all-cargo flights.
