The Public Health Authority or Weqaya of Saudi Arabia has recommended that citizens avoid unnecessary travel outside the kingdom, especially to high-risk countries, as there is a significant increase in the number of COVID-19 cases, official sources have said.

The high risk countries include the countries where there is an emergence of the Omicron variant as well as the rapid spread of the virus, which prompted these countries to tighten preventive measures and suspend some social activities, said the sources.

Weqaya also recommended that travelers coming from outside the kingdom, whether citizens or resident should avoid social contact for at least five days regardless of their immunization status, said official sources.

The sources said that Waqeya also advised taking of the Covid-19 PCR test in the event of respiratory symptoms or a temperature rise.

Weqaya also recommended that incoming travelers adhere to preventive measures, including wearing a mask all the time, avoiding crowded and public places, constantly sterilizing hands, and avoiding shaking hands.

It also stressed the importance of precautions, immunization with two doses, and immediately taking the booster dose, said the official sources.
