Saudi Arabia has said the collapse of Afghanistan would lead to chaos that has regional and international ramifications, while stressing the need to ensure that the country does not turn into a haven for terrorist and extremist groups.
Speaking during the emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation hosted in Islamabad, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan denounced the Daesh terrorist attacks in Afghanistan, according to media reports.
He said Saudi Arabia will begin transporting humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and expressed his hope to create mechanisms to provide humanitarian aid to the Afghan people.
A few days ago, Saudi Arabia sent two aircraft with humanitarian aid to Afghanistan for the first time since the Taliban came into power.
The United Nations has said Afghanistan faces “one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world” and the United Nations World Food Program warns of serious famine in the future.
