Both the food outlets were charged with non-compliance of Covid Protocols
  • The Ministry of Health announced that it had taken the required measures prior to referring both food outlets to legal authorities
  • This came during an inspection campaign conducted in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Industry

Two restaurants in Bahrain’s capital city of Manama have been closed on December 24 for violating the mandatory precautionary measures to combat the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) after Bahrain moved to the yellow level, said sources.

Reportedly, a Yellow Alert Level is declared when the average of positive cases in intensive care units is between 51 to 100 cases for seven consecutive days.

In a statement today, the Ministry of Health announced that it had taken the required measures prior to referring both food outlets to competent legal authorities.

This came during an inspection campaign conducted in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism and the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, local media sources said.

Inspectors also visited a total of 193 restaurants and cafes and took required measures against 17 outlets prior to referring them to competent legal authorities for flouting health protocols, reported sources.

The total number of cases in Bahrain till the last updated figures were 279,518. Of these, 1,394 people have died .

To counter the growth in cases, Bahrain has implemented enhanced screening measures to reduce the spread of Covid-19, which include the mandatory wearing of masks outdoors with increased quarantine restrictions for people.
