GCC seeks closer ties with EU to achieve common interests

Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for the Arab States Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf stressed the importance of GCC-EU relations and the need to support and develop them to achieve common interests.

Al-Hajraf made his remarks on the occasion of his official visit that will start on Monday, to the headquarters of the European Union in the Belgian capital of Brussels. During the visit, he will meet a number of senior officials of the European Union.

The secretary-general expressed his aspiration for this visit to contribute to strengthening Gulf-European relations, out of the importance of both the GCC and EU in enhancing regional and international security and stability, especially in light of a number of challenges that the world faces.

Al-Hajraf said that the visit will include a discussion on aspects of cooperation in areas of common interest, exchanging views regarding regional issues and political developments, in addition to issues related to the relations between the GCC and EU.

The two sides will also discuss the importance of strengthening and developing economic and investment relations.
