UAE and Hungary to collaborate in energy sector

UAE and Hungary reviewed means of strengthening bilateral relations and growing cooperation, particularly in the fields of energy, clean energy, sustainability and water resources.

Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, UAE’s Minister of Energy and Infrastructure and Peter Szijjarto, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade discussed this in a meeting held on the sidelines of Expo Dubai 2020.

The two sides also discussed an exchange of expertize and best practices in infrastructure, housing and transport.

Al Mazrouei briefed the Hungarian Minister and his delegation about the UAE’s ‘Projects of the 50’ that aims to accelerate the UAE’s development.

It also aims to transform the country into a comprehensive hub in all sectors and establish its status as an ideal destination for talents and investors.

Al Mazrouei also highlighted the UAE’s efforts to enhance sustainability and to address the issue of climate change, as well as its ambitious strategies.

This includes the UAE Energy Strategy 2050, which aims to increase the contribution of clean energy in the total energy mix from 25 per cent to 50 per cent by 2050.

The energy strategy also targets reduction of carbon footprint of power generation by 70 percent, thus saving AED 700 billion by 2050.
