Google’s yearly report of top trending searches reveals the most popular keywords and topics across different categories, such as ‘How to’ or ‘the most searched recipes’.

In 2021, the three top ‘How to’ searches were “How to help Afghan refugees”, “How to help Texas” and “How to help India COVID”.

In the ‘How to be’ category, the top three searches were “How to be eligible for stimulus check”, “How to be more attractive” and “How to be happy alone”.

“TikTok pasta”, “Bacon jam” and “Birria tacos” were the three most searched recipes in 2021.

These were all top “trending” searches, meaning the keywords with the largest increases in search volume from 2020 to 2021. These are not necessarily the top searches across all of Google.

Tech experts say answering ‘How to’ searches is a sure-shot recipe for increasing the traffic of a website.
