The GCC countries continue to plan and implement programs to localize government and private sector jobs to reduce the national unemployment and their reliance on expatriate workers.
In this context, they have established electronic platforms for hiring their citizens. These platforms provide residents with quick and accessible electronic services for applying for government and private sector jobs.
Kuwaiti portals
The Kuwait Youth Public Authority has recently established the “Tawfeed” electronic platform on its official website to generate job possibilities in the private sector for Kuwaiti youth, contribute to labor market development, and solve demographic imbalances.
The platform enables decision-makers to acquire information and statistics about the growth of human capital as well as supply and demand in the labor market, allowing them to make informed decisions.
The site also offers an information base for young job searchers, including educational data, practical experiences, professional certificates, and other information that allows private sector organizations and institutions to attract the best candidates for their career goals.
In addition to the “Tawfeed” platform, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Finance stated that an electronic platform would be developed soon to draw experience and competencies solely only Kuwaitis, as part of the country’s aim to localize government jobs.
According to the local newspaper “Al-Anbaa,” the ministry’s demands were represented by roughly 90 citizen employees to work in 8 different sectors linked with the ministry.
Emirati platforms
The UAE digital government has identified nine electronic platforms that provide jobs in the government sector, including the federal government’s online recruitment website, the national platform for self-employment, and the “Nafis” platform, which allows users to search for jobs openings in the private sector.
The sites also included the Abu Dhabi government’s employment portal, the Dubai government’s employment portal, “Kwader,” a government platform for seeking work in Ajman, and the Ras Al Khaimah government’s online recruitment website.
The UAE, most notably the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, also provides opportunities for the employment of people with exceptional needs.
Bahraini platforms
In collaboration with the Ministry of Labor, Bahrain launched the electronic labor market platform in June 2020, which offers a channel of contact between job searchers and private sector enterprises.
The platform focuses on introducing institutions to the qualifications of workers in Bahraini’s labor market and supporting their re-employment to meet the institutions’ objective to continue doing business as usual.
According to the CEO of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority, Osama Abdullah Al-Absi, the launch of this electronic platform came in the context of assisting employers in providing them with suitable employment with various skills, capabilities, and educational qualifications from within the country.
Omani services
“Omanuna,” the official site for e-government services, offers an employment service for job searchers electronically using a software system that allows job seekers to search for a job based on specialty, authority, and state of residence.
The site also includes a personnel registration system, an electronic data management program, and the documentation and archiving of all official papers for quick access.
Kawader platform in Qatar
Qatar also established the National Employment Platform (Kawader) through the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor, and Social Affairs, which displays all governmental and commercial positions available in Qatar for all sectors.
The platform’s goal is to allow residents to find jobs that match their specializations, allowing job seekers to register in all disciplines, including varied educational credentials.
Jadarah Saudi platform
The Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development launched the electronic employment system (Jadarah). Saudi nationals seeking employment can use this system to register their personal information, educational background, and employment history together with any supporting documentation.
This platform, which the Saudi Ministry introduced in 2011, offers an internet application service for positions posted by government organizations that match their qualifications and areas of expertise.
