GCC countries have called for calm in the Gaza Strip and an end to hostilities.
The United Arab Emirates has urged to restore calm to the Gaza Strip, reduce escalation, and preserve civilian lives.
UAE expresses concern over escalation and calls for restraint to prevent Gaza from violence and instability, said Afra Mahash Al Hameli, Director of the Strategic Communications Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
She noted the UAE, as a member of the UN Security Council, submitted a request along with China, France, Ireland and Norway to hold a closed meeting of the council next Monday.
The meeting is expected to focus on discussing the developments and ways to support international efforts to achieve a comprehensive and just peace.
The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf condemned Israeli forces for the attack on Gaza Strip, which resulted in multiple dead and wounded.
He called on the international community to act urgently to protect the civilians, especially women and children.
He also expressed condolences and sympathy for the victims’ families and to the government and people of Palestine, wishing speedy recovery for the injured.
Saudi Arabia condemned and denounced the attack by Israeli forces on the Gaza Strip.
The Kingdom affirmed its support for Palestinians, and called on the global community to take steps to end the escalation.
This includes providing the necessary protection for civilians, and make all efforts to end this long-running conflict.
Jordan called out Israel for allowing extremist settlers and a alleged Knesset member to storm the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound under Israeli police protection.
The extremists’ break-ins and provocation are violation of historical and legal status quo and international law, Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates’ spokesperson, Haitham Abu Alfoul said.
He asked Israel to halt measures aimed at altering the historical and legal status quo, and respect the Al-Aqsa Mosque and its administration.
