Qatar Central Bank issues treasury bills valued $164m for Sept

Treasury bills are issued through auction for banks operating in Qatar.
  • The duration of the bills is three, six and nine months with interest rates ranging between 1.09 percent and 2.22 percent.
  • This issuance came as part of the Qatar Central Bank's monetary policy initiatives and its efforts to strengthen the financial system.

Doha–Qatar Central Bank (QCB) has issued treasury bills for September 2022 for three, six and nine months, with a value of QR 600 million ($164 million).
QCB said in a statement that QR 300 million worth of bills have been issued for three months at an interest rate of 1.09  percent, QR 200 million for six months at an interest rate of 1.99 percent, QR 100 million for nine months at an interest rate of 2.22 percent.
This issuance came as part of the Qatar Central Bank’s monetary policy initiatives and its efforts to strengthen the financial system as well as to activate the tools available for the open market operations. The issuance is part of a series of issues executed by Qatar Central Bank on behalf of the Government of  Qatar and in accordance with the schedule prepared by both Qatar Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance, Qatar News Agency said.
