23 solar panel plants to come up across Saudi Arabia

DUBAI: As many as 23 factories that will manufacture solar panels and systems will be set up across Saudi Arabia, according to Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (Modon).

The plants will be established in 12 industrial cities, including Riyadh, Sudair, Al-Kharj, Dammam, Jeddah, Al-Madinah and Al-Baha as part of Modon’s strategy to empower industry and contribute to increasing the local content, the authority said.

Solar cells, slim panels for generating solar energy, solar energy panels, solar energy systems, indoor and outdoor lighting units, systems for charging batteries of photovoltaic and solar energy for lighting are some of the products that will be manufactured in these plants.

Local media reports, citing CEO Engineer Khalid Bin Mohammed Al Salem, said Modon seeks to attract investments that contribute to realizing Saudi Vision 2030’s target of achieving a perfect energy mix in the kingdom.
