Director-General of the Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) Salem Al-Suwaidi received Ambassador of Mexico to the UAE Luis Alfonso de Alba Góngora to discuss economic cooperation and explore trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.

Attended by Mohamed Ali Al Janahi, Executive Director of the Trade Development and International Relations at the ACCI, the meeting is part of the Chamber’s efforts to diversify its external partnerships, increase the volume of Ajman’s trade and be proactive in opening new markets for the emirate’s products.

The ACCI also aims to enhance the sustainability and growth of the business community and diversify the potential of competitiveness.

Al Suwaidi praised the existing relations between the UAE and Mexico and explained that the Ajman Chamber seeks to consolidate the trade and investment relations between business owners in both the countries.

He gave an overview of the components of the Ajman economic sector, including logistical services and a vital geographical location in the middle of the emirates.

The meeting also dealt with the vital sectors that provide investment opportunities, especially the industrial sector.

The attendees reviewed the opportunities available to both countries in food, beverages, textiles, furniture industry, pharmaceuticals, automobile and agricultural sectors.

Statistics indicate that trade between the UAE and Mexico amounted to US$1.5 billion (AED5.7 billion), growing by 18 percent in 2021 as against 2020.

They also show the opportunities for the growth of trade between Ajman and Mexico at seven percent during the last three years.

The Mexican ambassador expressed his thanks for the warm reception and praised the development of the UAE in general and Ajman in particular in all sectors, especially the economic sector, which is characterized by the momentum of opportunities and significant growth rates.
