  • The two Aluminum producers will cooperate to creep production at Alba’s Potline 6 beyond its name plate design capacity.
  • They will also explore ways to use EGA technology and expertise in future expansions at Alba smelter.

Aluminum Bahrain (Alba) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Emirates Global Aluminum (EGA) to explore opportunities to increase its throughput.

The two Aluminum producers will cooperate to creep production at Alba’s Potline 6 beyond its name plate design capacity as well as explore using EGA technology and expertise in future expansions at Alba smelter.

“This MoU cements our technology partnership with EGA, our partner of choice. We are pleased with the performance of EGA’s DX+ Ultra technology at Potline 6 and keen to work with EGA to further improve our Potline performance,” Shaikh Daij bin Salman bin Daij Al Khalifa, Alba’s Chairman of the Board said.

He said Alba is “excited” to explore other opportunities to deploy EGA technological expertise at its smelter for the potential brownfield expansion of Potline 7.

EGA Vice Chairman Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, who signed the agreement with Shaikh Daij at Expo, said the agreement was in line with the directives of the UAE’s leadership to further deepen the relations between the two countries.

“Aluminium Bahrain was EGA’s first technology customer, in a landmark for the development of a knowledge-based economy in the UAE,” Al Tayer said.
