Doha, Qatar– The number of building permits issued in Qatar in December 2022 decreased by 18 percent (527 permits), compared to (645 permits) issued in November 2022, the Planning and Statistics Authority said.

The decrease was noted the most in the municipalities of Al Rayyan (47 percent), Al Khor (37 percent), Al Shammal (25 percent), Al Doha (20 percent), Al Da’ayen (3 percent). On the other hand, there was a clear increase in the municipality of Um Slal (36 percent), Al Wakrah (16 percent) and Al Sheehaniya (6 percent), QNA reported.

According to their geographical distribution, municipality of Al Wakrah comes at the top of the municipalities with 130 building permits.

Villas top the new residential buildings permits list, accounting for 83 percent (120 permits) of all new residential buildings permits, followed by apartments buildings permits by 11 percent (16 permits) and dwellings of housing loans permits by 5 percent (7 permits).

Commercial buildings top the non-residential buildings permits with 51 percent (35 permits), followed by industrial buildings like workshops and factories with 31 percent (21 permits), then governmental buildings, mosques and other non-residential buildings with 6 percent (4 permits) each.
